    I ordered this package on August 22nd, 2012, which seems to be a good deal, but while waiting for it to arrive, I became aware of the recall that was issued on August 14th, 2012 on certain Rebel T41 units. The recall is because of an issue with the grip.

    My shipment arrived today (August 24th, 2012), and as soon as I opened the package, I checked the serial number on the body and contacted Canon. As luck would have it, I learned that my camera is one that was subject to the recall.

    So after unpacking it, I now have to pack it back up and ship it to Canon, for which I am told is a 5 to 7 day timeframe to get my “repaired” camera body back. This causes me to NOT be able to provide the camera as a gift on the date I needed to.

    I am baffled why the vendor would ship a recalled product a week after the recall issue was issued?

    I emailed the vendor, and am waiting to see what there response is, and if/ how they are going to make me happy for this pain-in-the-butt inconvenience, and “interesting” business practice.

    I would prefer not to have to rate this transaction until I hear back from the vendor, but Amazon does not allow that, so I am going with three stars.

    Day 2…… No response from vendor as to why they shipped me a recalled unit.
    Day 2…… Still waiting for the return shipping label I was promised by Canon. Was hoping to have gotten it yesterday (Friday) so I could have gotten it into the FedEx box and in transit to Canon. That didn’t happen either. So now my return is heading into the upcoming holiday weekend, which will slow things up even more.
    Day 2 ….. One star deduct from vendor rating.

    Day 3…… Still no response from vendor as to why they shipped me a recalled unit.
    Day 3…… Still waiting for the return shipping label I was promised by Canon.

    Day 4….. Finally received an email(through Amazon) from vendor apologizing for sending me a recalled unit, saying “I would like to set up a return for you if you would like for a full refund or replacement. Please let me know.” Unfortunately, they provided NO direct contact info. So I immediately sent the vendor two emails (through Amazon) leaving both a direct email and phone number for me, and asking them to contact me ASAP. Six (6) hours later NO response from vendor, so I now deduct my last rating star.
    Day 4….. Finally received a return shipping label from Canon so I can ship my brand new defective camera body to them for a 5 to 7 day repair period, not counting the inevitable Labor Day Weekend delay. So do I ship the camera to Canon, or wait for the vendor to get their act together? AAAARRRRGGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!
    NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER!

    Day 5……Still no follow-up response from vendor about making alternate arrangements to overcome them sending me a known defective product, so I bit the bullet and sent the unit to Canon to have the defective grips replaced. I hope to see it in week or so, but that’s well after the target date I had intended to present the camera as a gift.

    I realize that in pursuing a bargain, there’s a little give and take, but this was really a bad situation, that the vendor only made a feeble attempt to resolve. I wish I could take them down to zero stars, but that’s not an option. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!
