This review is from: Acer Aspire S7-391-6810 13.3-Inch Touchscreen Ultrabook (Personal Computers)

Hi let me say this is the first time I’m writing a review of any type on Amazon or anywhere else. So I’m particularly proud that my review is mostly positive.

    So the positives:-

    (1) Light and its the most practically slim PC you can get while retaining as many of the necessary characteristics one needs to be productive; its has (2) fast USB3 ports, neatly located in the upper right side of the laptop.

    (2) The design is very cool and attractive and I’ve been getting inquires from friend like ooowwee cool MacBook LOL; its not but looks just as good as any well designed piece of tech worthy of Apple engineering.

    (3) The complementary accessories that comes with the Ultrabook such as the wireless Bluetooth mouse and neat carrying case was a nice touch as well and very unexpected; maybe I didn’t read the product packaging before I bought it but I didn’t expect it so it was a nice gesture.

    (4) Loaded with a few good Acer approved apps for win8, such as their music and file storage options nothing I going to immediately take up but its free, so thanks.

    (5) Overall system performance well in a word excellent; I can’t find a single thing wrong from boot to windows shut down or sleep mode. Truth is I’m now getting to understand win8 allot has changed so its impacting my productivity a little but that nothing to do with the system and all to do with me.

But like everything else they are some caveats so the Cons :-

    (1) The location of the power button is poorly conceived since its along the left side and near power cord I keep hitting the power button by accident NOT-GOOD it happens to often.

    (2) The idea of a touchscreen laptop seens sexy but its not… I keep having to clean the darn thing and windows 8 isn’t ready for primetime as yet but that not Acer’s fault.

So my over all rating for this sweet piece of tech is 8.5

Very good laptop, December 1, 2012

I have owned this model for about two weeks. Overall I am very satisfied. I purchased this (from Newegg)because I have severe pain on both my hands due to carpal tunnel syndrome. So I was hoping that with touch screen capabilities and decent hardware, I could use this both at work and home. I am able to work well using the touch screen. I do not use touchpad at all (I am not a fan of touch pads). I sparingly use mouse when working in excel. With every other application (MS word, powerpoint, Firefox, Internet explorer, file explorer etc) I can do most tasks on touch screen. Key board is okay when compared to my previous Macbook Pro.

    Pros.
    Excellent design and light weight
About 200 GB is free after installing commonly used programs (MS office, antivirus, Photoshop etc). That leaves enough space for personal files.
Good hardware performance. Works at comparable speeds to a desktop machine.
Very fast file copying speeds from external sources.
Acer provided accessories are very nice (laptop case, connectors for external monitor and Ethernet)

    Cons
Comes with bloat wares. Uninstalled all of them.
Windows 8 metro interface sucks (not fault of acer). So I installed third party program called classic shell (free) . That gets rid of metro interface and puts back windows 7 type desktop. So I avoid metro interface like plague. However, Windows 8 has some improvements. First, it can mount mount ISO images without third party programs such as virtual clone drive. Zip functions has improved. So one can get away without winzip etc. The best part is refresh my pc option. With this one can easily restore the OS if it slows down. This avoids the hassle of formatting and reinstalling all programs.
As many people pointed out, touch functions are not very accurate on the edge of the screen. This has to do more about tiny font size display. I adjusted the screen size to 150% zoom level under personalization options. After this icons and fonts are more viewable. With bigger size, the touch accuracy on the corners improves much more.
Battery life is not very good. If you are watching movies, you can expect about 2.5 to 3.00 hours.

Overall I am happy with this computer and would recommend buying.

I bought mine about a week and a half ago at the Microsoft Store. I really love it so far, the only complaint is the placement of the power button. I keep hitting it by accident, and as a result I’d give this 4.5 stars if I could. The build quality is superb, looks much nicer than a Macbook. The screen is beautiful, and overall it’s very light. Haven’t tried any games yet, though I didn’t buy this for gaming. It’s pricey, but I feel it’s worth it, and it’s fun to show off.
